Kansas City Metro continues expansion in healthcare access

If you’re in healthcare, or thinking about getting into it, you may already know that healthcare jobs are more in demand than ever. Nationally, the Center for Health Workforce Studies Health Care Employment Projections study shows that the U.S. healthcare sector will add approximately 4.2 million jobs by 2020. And registered nurses are number one on the list for the largest increase in occupational growth.

Healthcare career opportunities are on the rise locally as well.

If you live in Kansas City, it’s important to know that our local healthcare industry remains right on trend. According to the Kansas City Business Journal, the city of Overland Park is in the approval process for the fifth micro-hospital in the KC metro area.

“Others [micro-hospitals] include the Saint Luke's micro-hospital approved for construction at 75th and Marty streets, approved facilities in Roeland Park and Leawood, and another confirmed by Saint Luke's in Kansas City, Kan.,” stated the Business Journal1.

What’s more, the St. Luke’s facility will be located just down the road from another new healthcare facility, Shawnee Mission Health System’s outpatient pavilion.

As our metro area and population continues to expand, so does the need for convenient and accessible healthcare facilities – all great news for health care workers!
